How DJ Cavaliere Seized Opportunity in the Tightest Spaces
When you think of mobile crushing, you might picture big machines on big sites—but for DJ Cavaliere, tight, urban job sites are where the real opportunity lives. By using mobile crushing equipment to process material on-site, DJ turned a compact urban yard into a full-blown recycling hub that keeps trucks off the road and costs under control.
A Compact Yard with Big Output
DJ operates out of what he calls a “postage stamp” yard in a dense city industrial zone. Space is limited. Traffic is constant. Neighbors are close. And yet, he’s running a full-time crushing operation right there—day in and day out.

So how does he make it work?
It’s all about using the right machine for the space—and understanding the demands of operating in a city environment. In places like DJ’s, there's no room for noisy equipment, messy setups, or complicated logistics. That means:
- The crusher has to be quiet enough to operate without bothering nearby homes and businesses.
- It’s gotta be compact and mobile. DJ needs equipment that can move around tight job sites without getting in the way. With the radio remote for his RM 70GO! 2.0, he can easily shift the crusher wherever it’s needed—no hassle, no hold-ups
- One machine needs to do it all. Handle crushing and screening in one go—without extra equipment or added crew
Even better? The machine is fully ground-serviceable, so when it’s time for maintenance, everything can be done from the ground. No ladders, no climbing, no lost time.

Instead of hauling debris miles away or paying dumping fees, DJ crushes it all on-site and reuses it. That includes concrete rubble, asphalt millings, and mixed demolition debris—turned into clean, usable base material without ever leaving the yard.
With the right machine—compact, mobile, and self-contained—your yard might be more capable than you think. DJ’s story proves that you don’t need a massive footprint to run a successful crushing operation. You just need the right setup, smart planning, and equipment that’s built for tight spaces.
A Market No One Else Wanted
DJ didn’t plan to get into on-site crushing—it found him. Contractors in the Northeast needed help managing smaller piles of material: 1,000 yards here, 5,000 there. Big crushing contractors wouldn’t touch those jobs. DJ saw the opportunity.
“There was a need for somebody with a smaller machine to go around and crush those small piles,” he explains.
He started taking on projects across New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and even Vermont, helping contractors process their leftover material directly on-site. Before long, he was running nonstop and building a niche business no one else was servicing.
That niche turned into a full-time operation. And now, with his crusher set up in his own yard, DJ focuses on local, efficient, and profitable recycling—without the bottlenecks of traditional processing plants.
Saving Time, Space, and Costs with Mobile Crushing
DJ’s success hinges on mobility and speed. Rather than hauling debris miles away, he uses a RM 70GO! 2.0 compact mobile crusher that processes material right at the source. “The machine was very easy to move—that was the key,” says DJ. “We’d get the material, crush the pile in one pass, and the customers were happy.”
With local traffic being far from ideal, eliminating unnecessary trucking helps Cavaliere Industries avoid congestion, reduce fuel costs, and minimize downtime. It also helps him keep complete control of his operation.

Low Feed HopperX
The feed hopper can be easily reached with a smaller excavator. The feed speed is adjustable and the crusher automatically slows down the feed if the machine is pushed too hard. Without the automated assistance tools, operators struggle to maximize production and get the most out of the machine.
Magnetic SeperatorX
The crushing process liberates encapsulated rebar and the magnet separates rebar from the finished product.
Screen-attachment for producing spec materialX
The screen attachment will separate any oversize from the crushed material. The oversize is collected on a transfer conveyor and returned to the feed hopper via the return conveyor to be recrushed to get it down to the desired spec.

Built to Last
His current machine has over 6,900 hours on it and is still running strong. In an industry where breakdowns mean lost time, missed deadlines, and skyrocketing costs, durability isn't just nice to have, it’s essential.
Not every crusher is built to take that kind of harsh work. Under heavy use, machines that aren't engineered to last will start to show it fast. Frame cracks, hydraulic failures, electrical issues, these aren’t just repair bills. They're downtime. And downtime kills margins.

DJ has run five RUBBLE MASTER crushers since he started his business, and he keeps coming back for one big reason: they hold up.
“This one’s got over 6,900 hours, and it’s still in great shape. I think it’ll go another 6,900,”.
A big part of that is RUBBLE MASTER’s smart, rugged design—and maintenance that’s actually manageable on a busy jobsite. That means:
- No climbing up the machine
- No wasted time hauling tools around
- No safety risks during routine checks
With RUBBLE MASTER, the design helps make daily maintenance part of the workflow and not a hassle. That’s what keeps DJ’s machine crushing day after day.
“Everything’s ground-based,” he says. “You don’t have to climb on the machine to do maintenance. That’s huge.”
Even A Small Yard Can Crush Big
For contractors considering mobile crushing, DJ offers honest advice:
“Do your research. You need a plan and a backup for everything. But if you’ve got the right machine and strategy, it’s a game-changer.”
That said, the payoff can be significant. With the right machine and a good strategy, even a small yard can become a self-sustaining recycling center.
At RUBBLE MASTER we understand that your resources are limited and you can't waste time with slow processes.
At RUBBLE MASTER, we don’t just care about the equipment - we care about what our equipment does for your team and for your bottom line. Therefore we built a range of compact crushers that outperform any mini jaw crusher so that you get back valuable time to focus on your mainline business.
We’ve been leading the pack in mobile compact crushing for 30 years. We’re always innovating new ways to help you achieve high output without the hassle - so you can tackle any job knowing your equipment will hold up its end of the bargain.
