From Waste Rock to Resource
How V Quattro is Changing the Game in Brazil with RUBBLE MASTER!
In the heart of Minas Gerais, Brazil, the earth is tough. The landscape is dominated by hard, abrasive gneiss—a type of rock that traditionally posed a huge challenge to construction projects. For V Quattro, an earthmoving company working on a massive storage facility, this rock was more than just an obstacle; it was a costly headache.
Typically, projects like this involve blasting the rock, hauling it away from the site, and discarding it as waste. This process isn’t just expensive—it’s inefficient and harmful to the environment.
Transporting large amounts of heavy rock off-site means more fuel consumption, higher costs, and a larger carbon footprint.
V Quattro decided to rewrite the rules. Instead of removing the gneiss from the site, they partnered with RUBBLE MASTER and local dealer Máquina Solo to process the rock directly where it was excavated.
Using the powerful RM 120X mobile crusher and RM MSC8500M-3D screener, V Quattro transforms this once problematic rock into high-quality aggregate—right on site. This aggregate is then used for various construction needs: warehouse floors, concrete production, road foundations, and retaining walls.
According to João Villaca, co-founder of V Quattro, “All the rock that once caused problems is now a valuable resource.”
The ability to crush, screen, and separate materials into precise grain sizes allows V Quattro to produce tailored aggregates that perfectly fit their project requirements. This control over material quality has raised the bar for what’s possible in earthworks. He highlights this approach:
by cutting transport & disposal costs
by keeping material local & minimizing waste
through on-site processing
This success story wouldn’t be complete without the strong support from Máquina Solo and RUBBLE MASTER. João Villaca points to the 24/7 assistance and the team spirit that made this innovative solution possible. “It wasn’t just sales talk,” he says. “We are in constant contact, and they stand by us every step of the way.”
The partnership began well before the machines were delivered. Through Máquina Solo, V Quattro was invited to visit the RUBBLE MASTER headquarters in Austria. João saw every stage of production, experienced the scale of the facility, and even joined a dinner with company founder Gerald Hanisch. Sitting next to him gave João the chance to talk openly about key challenges – from tough deadlines to very hard material. The response was clear: We’ll make this project happen together! From that moment on, it was obvious that the commitment went far beyond supplying machines.
V Quattro’s project in Minas Gerais is a shining example of how the construction industry can evolve. By turning a once troublesome rock into a valuable building material on-site, they’ve set a new standard for sustainability and efficiency. This approach is inspiring others in the sector, showing that even the toughest challenges can be transformed into opportunities.
