Self-sufficient in 0/32 thanks to RM70

RUBBLE MASTER stands for economic solutions in mobile recycling and is enormously successful around the world with its product range of mobile crushers and screens. Innovative crushing technology ensures that a company can be autonomous through the availability of inexpensive and high-quality building materials. A good example of this is the decision in favour of an RM70 RUBBLE MASTER Compact Recycler in Guadeloupe at the end of 2006. This means that even in times of extreme time and cost pressure, the economic processing of building debris and natural rock to make high-value final grain is secured - and with it the success of the construction company at the same time.

GUADELOUPE. The young company GET works as a network installation contractor, mainly in the Basse Terre area in the south of Guadeloupe. For the backfilling of the trenches after the laying of pipe networks, GET requires large quantities of sand and 0/32 mm gavel, which is why they decided to look for a cost-effective crusher.

Jean Humbert, executive director at GET, remembers: "The purchase price of these materials was increasing continuously. Moreover, the costs for transport had to be added, because we mainly work in Basse Terre and the materials came from Deshaies, which is 40 km to the north. This is why we decided to produce these materials ourselves. The material extracted from our trenches in Basse Terre is usually puzzolana and comes in large blocks. And we have to crush it to the finest possible grain."

The crushing unit has to meet a variety of requirements:

  • be able to produce a lot of fines
  • be mobile on tracks, to work directly on site and thus avoid transportation costs and to be easily transferable from one site to another with a low-bed trailer
  • provide an output of minimum 60 tonnes per hour
  • and of course, with low running and maintenance costs and high reliability

Caraïbe Transfert, RUBBLE MASTER partner for Guadeloupe, proposed an RM70 with OS80 oversize grain separator. After GET had studied the market and gained an overview of what was available, RUBBLE MASTER emerged as the clear favourite. "The RM70 has been in operation since the end of 2006 with impressive productivity, and fully complies with all our specifications," says Jean Humbert.

As soon as the machine was delivered, the mechanic responsible for maintenance was highly enthusiastic. He especially appreciates the RUBBLE MASTER diesel-electric concept, which in particular simplifies maintenance and moreover allows the compact design of the machine. Additionally he values the high-quality RM70 components from reputable brands that are expertly configured inside the crusher.

"We have turned our problem into a major opportunity," explains Jean Humbert of GET. "We can now produce as much of the desired 0/32 value grain as we need and we can even produce fines such as 0/16 mm if necessary. Despite this the RM70 is extremely flexible and able to crush concrete or asphalt as well. This offers a wide range of profitable operations for this machine, also in the field of recycling."
