Creating a trend for recycling in Turkey

In 2007 RUBBLE MASTER Compact Recyclers entered the Turkish market by starting a partnership with SIF IS MAKINALARI PAZARLAMA LTD. STI. of Istanbul. Their experienced and committed team presented the RUBBLE MASTER Compact Recycler range for the first time at the KOMATEK in Ankara in May. In November SIF invited 220 customers from the whole of Turkey to the "SIF Demolition Days" in Antalya-Belek for both presentations and demonstrations of the profitable RUBBLE MASTER solutions for mobile recycling.

SIF, founded back in 1956 and growing its business since then, is a solution provider for construction equipment. Their strategy is to act as a consultant to their customers and create cost-effective solutions for the construction, industrial and agriculture sectors. With the start of Turkey's accession negotiations to the European Union, SIF started to follow the changes and new regulations on environmental policies, with the Metropolitan Transformation Projects in big cities creating a huge demand for landfill sites. It was then that SIF started looking for a partner to supply recycling solutions, in the knowledge that there would soon be a considerable demand for processing rubble on site. SIF decided to create a synergy with RUBBLE MASTER, the technology leader for mobile compact recycling. "RUBBLE MASTER brings new opportunities for recycling, road building and infrastructure sectors in a totally new market segment in Turkey," explains Product Group Director Burak Öztoygar.

Compact solutions for demolition and recycling
The "SIF Demolition Days" were a great event – and extremely popular among the 220 guests. Customers from the western cities of the country came to the first event on Tuesday, November 10th . Wednesday was the day for 120 customers from Antalya, and the eastern part of Turkey was invited on Thursday. The guests, staying in a 5-star hotel by the sea which catered for all their needs, saw a comprehensive presentation in the mornings. After the opening by Managing Director Cüneyt Divris, Product Group Director Burak Öztoygar took participants through the extensive programmes. He explained JCB's Compact and Heavy Line and the RUBBLE MASTER Compact Recycler technology in detail, supported by RUBBLE MASTER Sales Manager Christian Windhager and Product Supervisor Yalcin Kacmaz. Aspects and regulations concerning waste management and in particular waste building material were illustrated on Thursday by Mrs Nevra Sözmen, Environmental Engineer at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

After lunch the guests travelled by bus to the nearby demonstration area, where an exciting show took place with specialist demo operators from the UK performing JCB's "Dancing Diggers".

RUBBLE MASTER Compact Recyclers presented two models of their environmentally friendly range of impact crushers: the robust RM80 put in an impressive performance, producing 150 t/h of homogenous high-value final grain from concrete reinforced with steel and limestone, with a feeding size of up to 700 mm. The smart RM70 with its award-winning design was part of the cost-effective RUBBLE MASTER solution for standardised value grain in a single pass. Feed material up to 600 mm was processed in the crusher to a defined end material of 0/32 mm at high throughput and with minimised wear by means of the mobile oversize grain separator OS80 attached to the main discharge belt. Three comb cascades reliably separate all oversize material which is being re-fed into the crusher.
The "SIF Demolition Days" turned out to be a huge success for RUBBLE MASTER. The visitors were especially taken by the cost-effectiveness of the crushers operated by a single operator with remote control in the digger. And of course the RUBBLE MASTER concept for graded material in a single pass with the mobile oversize grain separator was seen as a convincing argument, and five RUBBLE MASTER crushers were sold at the event as a result. Burak Öztoygar and Christian Windhager were also pleased about the number of intense discussions on specific projects with construction companies, municipalities and manufacturers, for example about implementing a RUBBLE MASTER crusher in the concrete manufacturing process or for the recycling of asphalt in road construction.

Creating a trend for demolition and recycling in Turkey
The compact but powerful RUBBLE MASTER crushers and screens fit perfectly into the product portfolio of SIF, the most successful JCB dealer in Europe in 2007. "The JCB Compact and Heavy Line and RUBBLE MASTER Compact Recyclers are perfectly matched partners on demolition sites," explains Burak Öztoygar. Compact equipment such as diggers with shears and hydraulic breakers are lifted on top of the building by crane where they start demolition work and proceed top-down floor by floor. All mineral waste material prepared that way is transported to ground level, immediately fed into the compact RUBBLE MASTER crusher and processed to a high-value grain. Its high quality allows the reuse on site so the customer saves immense expenses for transport.

"RUBBLE MASTER is the future in saving money by returning excavated and demolition material back into the process as recycled aggregates – instead of facing high transport costs," says Burak Öztoygar. "We see advantageous synergies with JCB's Compact and Heavy Line, as far as mobility and high value components in servicing the machines are concerned." And delivering the best quality service to their customers has always been the aim for SIF. This is why SIF operates sales offices in 7 locations throughout Turkey with 28 additional service centres and a team of over 90 employees. "Bearing in mind that every investment made should address customer satisfaction in the short term, SIF always aims to improve their efficient and hard-working staff in order to continue taking important steps in becoming unique in the sector," explains Burak Öztoygar. The SIF Roadshow touring all over Turkey for 3 weeks every year will provide another chance to see the profitable RUBBLE MASTER solutions in operation soon.
